Portable gps garmin
Sometimes takes awhile before it recognizes where we are when we start out. I like to have an visual of the path that I'm taking before I venture off, so the ability to zoom out is a great help, as well as having the directions listed for easy reading. Very easy to use! Step by step directions make not looking at the screen while driving easy to accomplish. I would reccommend this product to anyone who is in the market for a GPS for their car. There is very little issues with rerouting as i have seen with other similar gps systems. Basically you tell the gps how you want to get somewhere along with the address of where you want to go, and its going to get you there in the least amount of time. The gps took him on the easiest routes possible, avoiding side streets and also having the options available to avoid highways and also tollways. My husband stated that the actually routing system was also great. The touch screen was large enough to see a good map, and the updates were loaded with rerouted, construction, as well as speed limits and weight limits on specific streets. He was suprised to see how easy it was to use and program. When i brought the Garmin home to my husband, he immedietly started to try it out. He tends to stay in the city and surrounding suburbs, and with all the construction he asked that i get him something that can help him make his routes easier.

I purchased the Garmin Nuvi 650 Portable GPS for my husband who is a local semi truck driver. It can get frustrating when you accidentally end up switching screens and you were just trying to zoom in. The map is very difficult to read and the GPS sometimes becomes confused about where you are. It takes a while to figure out where you are and it can also take some time to recalculate a route. There's also an MP3 and audiobook feature. I've had this GPS for 4 years and only recently discovered the language dictionary, calculator, and currency conversion features, but those seem very handy for serious travelers. There's a nice feature where you can tap the screen and see written directions and there is a zoom option, although the map itself is impossible to read. If you're good with directions and not prone to panicking when you get lost, this GPS will probably be okay for you, but if you're like me, you will have at least one small panic attack where you realize that neither you nor the GPS knows where you are and you should've just printed out a map. If you're on an interstate with overpasses, underpasses, or nearby sideroads, it can get confused about which road you're on. For small roads, the GPS often doesn't tell you to turn until after you've passed them. You can occasionally just program a destination and arrive there without a problem, but most of the time you need to at least have a vague understanding of the directions. I received this GPS as a gift primarily for that reason and there have been many times when it's come to my rescue however, this is not the ideal roadtrip companion for the directionally challenged. I'm a visual person, so if the only cues I have are street names, I get lost. I'll preface this by saying that I'm terrible with directions. Too easy to use, just touch the screen to tell it what you want to do, garmin has always been pretty simple that way, with large icons that are easy to see. it helps keep you on track for time if you are supposed to be somewhere by a certain time. I never really have a problem with the maps as long as they are updated, the arrival times are also very accurate as well. a little hesitation on the points of interest as it searches it database for those but only a few seconds nothing to worry about Thus you can take a unit that is very inexpensive to buy now is basically a great way to get into a navigation unit that does what you want it to practically out of the box.ĭoesnt hesitate when i enter places to go at all. You can easily purchase the lifetime garmin maps so that you can always have the newest garmin map updates on the unit & that way you know your maps are current. I dont use either of them very much however if you wanted to listen to your own content, answer your phone etc you can do it with this unit.

It also has bluetooth & an sd card reader. This unit isnt the newest from garmin & doesnt have the lane designation that the newer ones have, however it does let you know in plenty enough time when you need to exit a highway or whatever so you know to get over to the appropriate lane. It has never let me down as far as getting me where I need to go. I often take it with me when I dont know exactly where I'm going.
